To LeftyTC53.. WTF? "cloud more minds with theory and hold back creativity"? What are you smoking? Theory PROMOTES creativity, knowing what you're doing HELPS you to experiment and do even more when writing songs or performing solos. I'm currently working towards my degree in composition, and seriously.. without theory, creativity is very limited because you don't know what the heck you're doing.

I find that in order to like Joe Satriani you have to have listened to a lot of music before you get to him. Kinda like jazz. Its either like this, or you automatically like him. But I think more of the first, less of the latter.
