Sarkozy's office made the announcement Wednesday -- ending speculation that the French leader might boycott the opening of the games. Sarkozy was the first world leader to announce he might not attend, as a way of protesting China's violent crackdown of protests in Tibet. The French president has long been an advocate of dialogue between the two sides ... Saying he may meet with the Dalai Lama in France in August. But after meeting with the Chinese president at the G-8 summit, Sarkozy announced he will attend the opening ceremonies, saying France wanted to deepen its strategic partnership with China. China has been trying for months to ensure a flawless Olympic games. | China will never beg any body. That is their thing. There is a Chinese saying:" we rather to be having our head chopped off other than begging for meaningless live. That means the pride of China is much much more valuable than the 1.3 billion Chinese life. The Chinese can be defeated, they never allow themselves got insulted.
