| Prog-Rock was a musical movement where the artists aspired to push boundaries down. To me punk, conversely, was a social movement with a muzak of pseudo-aggressive/political careerists. Punk has spawned and been a catalyst for many bands I'm really fond of (The Fall, Sonic Youth, Television to name but a few) but the initial movement was one of rebellion against whatever they saw as Paleozoic and decrepit, like Prog which, of course it cannot be. It is inherently progressive and timeless. |
