In 2005, over 40 school buses in Wasilla, Alaska were heavily damaged by vandals, causing tens of thousands of dollars in damages. Trooper Mike Wooten, Sarah Palin's ex-brother-in-law and subject of her troopergate scandal, made the arrests of 3 juveniles convicted in the vandalism spree. ...of budget cuts. The raises happened but, rather than cut spending, the Dems put spending increases in continuing resolutions. They as much as dared Reagan to veto the cuts by vetoing the entire resolution. Reagan's magic ability to go over the heads of the talking heads had been sapped by years of use and by the Iran/Contra scandal. The Dems raised spending and blamed Reagan for the resulting deficit.
Reagan did raise defense spending and it was a good thing he did.
