Bruce Lee was not making fun of these people when he said "Boards don't hit back", he was simply making a point that a real life fight against a trained martial artist is harder than breaking boards. | Actually martial arts are about discipline and defending yourself. Yes fighting is a major part of that because it comes under self defense, but the whole point is not to have to fight. breaking concrete requires intense discipline, so it IS martial arts. Please don't comment with such ignorance of the subject you are commenting on. |

| The spaces are there to make it so that the individual performing the break has to strike through every brick versus hitting maybe one or two and causing a domino effect. this also holds true for breaking through wood. if you have ever tried to just break a board, there is a bending effect with wood, creating a certain degree of difficulty. |
