This is a must see video of cziffra! He does a bunch of improv and basically shows off his skill while warming up. Note: This is amazingly not a performance but a filmed test of the piano. Thanks to busoniliszt, This is the breakdown of some pieces that he visits: 1) 1:27 Liszt - Scherzo & Marsch
2) 3:39 Chopin - Etude op. 10 nr. 1
3) 5:10 Chopin/Liszt - Chant Polonais (Madchens Wunsch)
Also there is a bit of Shostakovitch Op. 87 No. 7 discovered by nikkistride.
He absolutely rips chopin's etude op.10 no.1. from the keys. The rest, is the ability of a professional mind.

| there's no question this man has mastered the piano. however, i really hate it when people start claiming one pianist to be the greatest ever - or to have the best technique ever - many people have mastered the keyboard, and each have strengths - which they more often than not tend to stick to when being recorded. unfortunately i don't know all of the pieces, the fragments of which are being so expertly woven together by cziffra here, but he didn't 'improvise' this whole thing |
