A Great Creation and a wonderful Celluloid Gift to the world. Can not believe this movie was made in 958-59.
I saw in some news that this movie is going to be remade by theson of William Wyler soon.
It is sad the whole world missed a Great Actor like Late.Sir. Charlton Heston. Thanks & Blessings for giving these wonderful clip for view.

A masterpiece. But is it true that there was a sad incident of a stunt man succumbe to the injuries and with a very courageous and broadmind the wife of the stuntman permitted the movie producers to use the incident in this scene for public view. Though very very late Condolences to her if it was true.And sincerely I pray it is false.
I checked some webs and none has confirmed the incident. It is good if it is false. UMA MAHESWAR NAKKA

There are several rumors of a stuntman being killed, but they're just that, rumors. Nobody died. However, stuntman Joe Canutt was injured at 5:38. I think he broke his nose.

This is a great film in every respect, the chariot race has never been beaten, no special effects used, no CGI, just sraight forward film making. It won 11 oscars in 1959. The direction is awesome, the acting superb a film with real conviction and a deep spirituality. I saw it on the big screen, and it was an incredible experience.

It looks real enough, but nope, no one died. The only injury was to stuntman Joe Canutt at around 5:38. I believe he broke his nose.

It's been a common misconception ever since the movie was released back in '59. Looks real though, doesn't it? In 1989 a 30th anniversary edition was released on video, and after the movie there was a lenghty documentary added which went into great detail about the race. They interviewed, among o
ther people, Joe Canutt, the stuntman who doubled for Heston for a few frames. Fascinating stuff. If you ever come across it, give it a look. You won't be dissappointed. Cheers.

Yes it was called Camera 65, which was the fore runner to Panavision 70. Todd AO and also Cinerama. I think this was one of the few films on 65mm because 70mm came straight after. I cannot understand people looking for non existent planes and cars. Just marvel at genius film making. A masterclass of entertainment.

The guy at 8:57 represents the greed of the world, men have died in the arena but he just wants to steal. Just as in a real disaster, some people want to loot. Ben Hur, through the story of Christ and the corruption of Rome shows all that is good and all that is evil in our world. A brilliant film, unsurpassed.
