its a matter of opinion. Most indians cant stand Hollywood movies, All it is is a bunsh of shooting and explosions. Not a single piece of excellent work. Well atleast not in the 21st century.

uhm most hollywood movies are crap! they are overbudgeted, overedited (to suit everyone's tastes to make more money)..but in the end they lack passion and artistic view point to be any good....lots of indipendent movies have been way better than hollywood movies i've been a big fan of cultural movies like this one

in our tradition it is considered a matter of dishonour to marry outside the caste. Caste is an ancient form of classification in India based on ones birth. In this case Jodha is a rajput and she is to marry Akbar, who is a muslim.. here let alone different castes.. Jodha is to marry someone of a completely different religion. That's why the mother gives her poison and tells her that it is better to die that to lose your honour as a rajput...

True, but really, 95% of everything is crap.
And anyway, most Bollywood movies are not independent, the majority of the film inustry in India (especially the tamil and telugu industries) is commercial, ilke Hollywood. Just because it's foreign, doesn't mean it's art.
(Jodhaa Akbar is actually a very commercial movie, an incredibly expensive one too.)

Not all Hollywood movies are crap, and not all Bollywood movies are good (especially the ones that copy heavily from Hollywood movies). While many Hollywood films have silly explosions, lots of violence, crap dialouge, bad acting, and recyled plots, many Bollywood movies have over-emoting, cliched dialouge, ridiculous action scenes, low production values, and dance numbers that do zip for the films except make them too damn long. There's good and bad in both industries.

really buddy...u think movies based on video games made by hollywood is real...wow..tells us a lot about your IQ...in fact bollywood is much closer to reality ...their movies are based on real life relatable stories...rather than comic books...

zstruggle- i might've agreed with u if u said that u found this movie lacking-- yeah its not perfect, but firstly, i'm not sure what authority u think u are to decide what is fact.secondly, give me one good reason why an indian director can't have the same passion as a hollywood for the medium of films and where the heck u found proof for that(if u discovered a way of measuring and quantifying passion, the world would like to know about it).

thirdly, if this is the only hindi movie u have watched then u shouldn't make a judgement at all- i can give u various recent examples of good realistic hindi films such as Taare Zameen Par (2007), Lakshya (2005).finally, don't make statements on truth- u don't even know how little u know.

Excellent direction. Beautiful message; that people of different regions & religions can co-exist peacefully. It's difficult for most individuals to see the good in another culture. For example, just look at some of the comments on here: how some youtubers are creating negative rifts, backlashing each other 're: Holly vs. Bolly", and then one can truly appreciate how important the message is: "coexist peacefully", appreciating the good from each side. We are all one team!
