What a heartbreaking waste! Karen Carpenter had the most unique, beautiful voice. I grieve for her family and us her fans. I miss the fact that we cannot hear new songs from her. I loved listening to her voice, even now I miss it so much. No one else has ever touched me as much with their voice than Karen Carpenter. I just wish she knew when she was alive how much we loved her and thought she was beautiful. Poor troubled soul. I miss her so much.

Her voice is pure silk, or velvet...just has that extra special quality to it. The way she begins the song in her deep register and builds up several octaves. She just swallows the song whole (as RC said about her interpretation of "Solitaire")...a wonderful sad song that uplifts in the middle and becomes positive. In 1975, this song hit #4 on the Billboard Pop Charts and sold over 600,000 copies.
