Bruce's tunes always have that irony. This is a happy, upbeat piece of music but the lyrics and their meaning cut right thru you in a serious way. All of us who've grown up in New Jersey know exactly where Bruce is coming from in this song/vid. Songs from the past like Jungleland, Meeting across the River, Born in the USA, are serious in tone as well as subject matter. But here Bruce keeps the music happy and light, but the message is serious, poignant and yet amusing at the same time.

Well, I grew up a blue collar kid in detroit. Worked on the line for Ford Motor Co and now a shovel mechanic in a coal mine in Wyoming. But my college degree at least helped me to spell correctly. And by the way I had my first beer at 13 in the Gaelic league in cork town detroit. And there is nothing substandard about my anatomy. But your musical taste is very substandard........dork.
