Did Russell T Davies borrow the plot of this 1998/9 TV serial Damon Dark:Maddox, where a corrupt media mogul uses cellular phones and a satelite to relay the mind-controlling signals of his alien allies to control people? See the Dr.Who ep "The Sound of Drums".

This looks fantastic. Russell T Davis has a few hallmarks in all his works. He does copy ideas. Most film makers do. His cellphone fetish was in the British Channel 4 version of Queer as folk. Then in Dr Who, Rose Tyler had a cell phone that called through time and space. Then of course the cybermen took cell phones to a new level of mind control, then the drums. But Star Trek had cell phones before they existed. Anyway, Blessings from Earth. +++ The Saint +++

Thanks Saint! Yeah, I was being a little bit tongue in cheek there. Good point about Star Trek. Ofcourse, in 1975 when I was a boy Space:1999 had video screens on gadgets called Comlocks. Now mobile/cell phones have video and net access.

Thanks very much! :) This was a big shoot, over three months and many more in pre and post production, to get Australia's first authentic SF serial on Channel 31. It was worth it, I believe. It'd be easier now, with modern technology!

Hi Miguel. There's a previous pilot ep called Timeslip, but this followed after it. Timeslip, Maddox (parts 1,2 and 3) and "Mother" (aka It's After Me!) were the 5 part series originally screened in Australia on Channel 31 in 1999.
