In recent Insurance Institute for Highway Safety tests, the 2008 Smart Fortwo, the smallest car for sale in the US market, earned the top rating of good for front and side crash protection. Its seat/head restraints earned the second highest rating of acceptable for protection against whiplash in r
ear impacts. Smart Fortwo is classified a microcar, meaning it's smaller even than minicars. Weighing about 1,800 pounds, the Smart is more than 3 feet shorter and almost 700 pounds lighter than a Mini Cooper.

He is out of his mind. A toyota prius will never be as economical as a smart. A prius has he lowest co2 emission because its a "eco/green" car but its not a fuel economy king. Even a vw lupo diesel has similar co2 emissions and half the prius fuel consumption. In the matter of safety he maybe right.

Smart cars were carefully designed to resist at any kind of impact, he has limtis as any other car, but in a frontal crash against another vehicle, this car 'takes' the absortion areas of it. Ther's another real crash test between a Smart and a Mercedes E class that you most see. But... Above all, this small and very 'smart' car passed the EuroNCAP crash tests pretty well.

You're wrong. Ladderframe construction (what you call Full-frame) is generally worse at absorbing force. I'm assuming you're a highschool kid or someone without any technical knowledge so I'll explain. Ladder frames (found in Trucks) are built to be rigid and strong hence they don't crumple well. Crumpling is what absorbs force. Unibody frames are designed to crumple at strategic locations to absorb force. Hence Unibody frame car is safer than a ladderframe car of similar dimensions.

According to EPA, this is the 4th most fuel efficient car in the USA. Toyota Prius is 1st. If you crashed at 70 mph, even if ure car was loaded with protective material, you would die. Your internal organs can't handle such a quick deceleration. That fortwo has a Tridion Safety Cell: the car will sustain less damage and the driver will be protected from outside. But the driver will get fucked by inside forces (itll be absorbed). BTW the steering wheel retracts when u crash, so thats safe.

That's kinda selfish. Besides, if you look at it in the long run, more steel threatens more lives. Here's my theory (get ready) more steel = heavier car which means a bigger engine is needed which means less MPG which means more emissions which means GLOBAL WARMING which means?....polar ice caps melt, parts of India/China flooded, people die! I would rather drive a small car that is kind to the environment that's slightly less safe. Not all small cars are unsafe. BTW I get 74 MPG,some get 88 MPG
