My only complaint is think more dynamics. Your forte and fortissimo were almost the same (I think your fortissimo might have actually been a little quieter)and see if pulling the beginning down a dynamic is possible, otherwise pull everything after it up a bit (with a good sound of course).

The beginning is piano yes, but I would still give it an aggressive feel to it with lighter 16ths with a slight accent to satisfy the marcato marking. And I would definitely milk the Cs and the Ds on the arpettio. Everything is fine after that. Maybe it's the acoustics in your room but a stronger forte would be better as it is a fanfare. At the piano after that I would try maybe hanging onto the legato 8th notes just a tad longer especially during the last two lines. Good luck.

thanks. ya i made it last year as a sophomore 2nd at 5A state. Beginners luck. But i'll be shooting for first this year, no doubt. But ya i think i remember you, you were the only freshman to make it, congrats on that. Do you know Mark Rios?

Wow. I made state your freshman year in the same region. I remember telling you after region auditions not to worry, and you will most likely make it the following year. I went back and forth that year with the senior that made state from your school. I've been looking for videos to help out some old friends over the break. Looks like I'll be showing them this. are you kidding me? look at the date......it was posted for feedback to help since they were all-state etudes, this was posted way before our actual auditions, and he got first in region at orcestra try outs, phase one and phase two for region band, and also second at area on a BAD day......i highly doubt you could have played it better as a junior in high school.... you didnt even say what sucked about it, like that helps....

Very nice job and congrats on making it again this year. Best of luck at State auditions. I'm a former Texas all-state trumpet player from the late '70s and my son made it this year. How 'bout posting video of the state cuts? Would love to hear you play them. I've actually played "Slava" before. It's a great piece and a lot of fun.

Sounds great man. I wish the Florida All-State auditions were from the brandt book. We get everything from Phil Smith's concert studies. haha.

I made all state ATSSB 8th chair this year. we were TMEA last year but the competition vetween 2a and 5a is so much different. did u make it though?
