The Nintendo Wii is looking to make a big splash once it lands, and as such, I've decided to honor it with a montage of clips set to the Advent Children version of Sephiroth's infamous theme song.

think about it noob, whats the first thing you learn as a gamer? to NOT jerk the control around like an idiot. Nintendo knew that real gamers have a computer full of emulators of all their old games to play with a real controller, so the only reason to even offer that was if there system were admittedly for noobs like you.

the xbox 360 controller is identical to the dreamcast controller, except the addition of 2 shoulder buttons like the ps1 had. the evolution of game controllers has lead to this design, because thats what a real controller is supposed to be like. a tv remote with like 4 buttons that you jerk around like a noob is not a real controller. emulators are not illegal, neither are roms. you are allowed to have back up copies of any software you have purchased.

If you arne't interested in new ideas, then you're clearly stuck in the past. try and enjoy it when someone thinks of seomthing new and interesting. and notice that you said "back-up copies". this is true. if someone doesn't have the original, it's illegial to emulate it. that's why there's the VC. and they have a similar feature on teh 360, so that's hardly grounds for argument.

a real gamer goes with the ps3 for console gaming (though smart ones wait till the price drops) and a computer for everything else. its nothing to be ashamed of fanboy, nintendo made a brilliant marketing move making a counter intuitive system specifically for the non gamers of the world, i would have done the same thing if i were in their position.

its not that im not interested in new ideas, but in the gaming industry new ideas usually blow up in nintendo's face. remember the virtual boy? another prime example is the gameboy ds. its a new idea, and sorta cool in some ways, but how can you use the d-pad, buttons, and stick all at once? use your mouth to draw with the stylus? also, holding it with the buttons hand and drawing with my dpad hand hurts after extended play, so i had to start setting the damn thing down on a table to play.

"if someone doesn't have the original" - you don't seem to understand the legal system. aside from the current impossibility to monitor every computer on the planet for roms... the burden of establishing guilt is on the state. can they prove, beyond the shadow of doubt, that you never owned the games? considering that most games currently emulated have sold in pawn shops -sometimes as low as a dollar- it seems unlikely that they could.

Okay, say what you want but the Wii has already almost (if not already) oversold the Xbox 360, which had a year headstart and your PS3, is selling rather poorly compared to others.
