hmm...I love this piece but I don't know that piano does it justice since a major portion of the enjoyment for me is the combination of colors in the orchestra.

I think the best way to reach an appreciation of what's being done here is listen to the orchestral score of this. Le Sacre du Printemps is an amazing piece of music but you really, really need the color of many instruments at first to really get it. Once you've heard that, you should be able to recognize it here. I had to listen to that first before I would recognize this as anything but an abstract garble of fail.

Well, Stravinsky made the piano version (quatre-main) first and out of that (and also, next to that) the orchestral version. Later, he also made a piano version for one person.

Stravinsky the 1ST psychedelic composer? Try Berlioz's Fantastique Symphony. Bernstein was right in saying that that piece was the first musical journey into Psychedelia.

These previous comments are made by idiots with no conception of the musical composition.
There are ragtime techinques used by Stravinsky in the Rite of Spring, and the harmonic and rhythmic ideas caused riots in Paris when they were presented in 1913. These ideas changed the way composers approached composition.
Look no further than John Williams and "Jaws" and "Star Wars" for examples.

Sjrisher51, i agree with you completely. I am only 12 years old and i posses more musical literacy than half of these idiots.This is in my opinion the most amazing piece ever composed, it is delicately organized yet chaotic. And, yes the riot against this piece is a very distinguished example of human closed-mindedness

Just to finish, I would like also to add that there are different musical tastes - and yes, even people without musical training can have opinions. For instance, I absolutely love Shostakovich; however, my god-father dislikes him greatly because he can't stand "all that brass". I'm not going to call him an idiot - I'm just gonna say, "but wait, can you see the beauty in THIS line..."
