Granted. I dont ... ( 1 month ago by kryptonitebullets)
Granted. I dont have experience applying BJJ techniques, I dont have a training partner. However, I know how many of the techniques are applied. Training manuals and watching them applied etc. You dont HAVE to put someone in a kimura to know how to do it if you must. It helps to have drilled techniques but many of the basics could be linked and or countered in a must situation by previous observation alone. Kinda like how you can come up with counters to a punch by watching others counters.
As for the ... ( 1 month ago by kryptonitebullets)
As for the assumption that they wont be fighting dirty like me...well, you tend to do what you are trained to do, so if the first thing that pop to there mind is something for example like. "pull gaurd and when he tries to hit me or grab down at me go for a triangle choke or armbar." He isnt going to be counting on my thinking not fitting his and me either puttint my thumb into his eyeball, grabbing and crushing his airway while he is tryin to get my arm, or me reaching down and gettin his balls
Watching a ... ( 1 month ago by popasmuerf)
Watching a technique and developing a counter to it is in no way a valid or effective way of developing said counter. There is a lot going on in the setup of a submission that you you simply will not experience unless you are actually training with a resistant opponent and an instructor who is competent. A good example is a friend of mine who fancied him self a "ground fighter" after studying of instructional tapes. He basically got raped by everyone in the dojo until he attended regularly.
And if he does ... ( 1 month ago by kryptonitebullets)
And if he does think like me and says to himself "lets end the fight quickly and do whatever it takes."....well, the art part of the martial art kind of goes out of the window and he is just scrapping like me...even if we are wrestling around on the ground, we each have a leg in the other ones mouth and a handful of nuts in one hand and a eyeball stuck to the other hands fingers XD so were both pretty fucked up lol! which brings me to the point, "fight no good danielson, someone get hurt." ;) :P

You may have a 50/50 chance of doing well against some one who has no training whatsoever....but I can almost guarantee you will crushed by anyone with at least a month's worth of training.
I could make videos ... ( 1 month ago by kryptonitebullets)
I could make videos demoing the applications Ive come up with. I have a friend who would probably shoot the video with me (finding a mobile web cam would be a problem but I could probably get one somewhere.) But I dont see the point in it because then I would just be told that what I was doing was demo, and unless they actually see me pop a BJJ man's eyeball out and get away with it they wont believe me. Kinda a no win situation for me in proving my point.
Or...you could ... ( 1 month ago by popasmuerf)
Or...you could actually learn how to grapple. Where do you live ? There is usually a Judo or BJJ school in or around every major city...if not that, Sambo or Freestyle/Greco wrestling. Also...the post you made about "everything will go out the window"...will only be true for you. The BJJ player will likely have much more control over his "adrenaline rush" as he has regularly sparred with others in class and competed in tournaments. You dont have that luxury because your training is theory.
There is a place ... ( 1 month ago by kryptonitebullets)
There is a place around here that teaches amatuer MMA. But they wont let you just walk in and take on one of there guys, like a BJJ place would. As far as straight jujitsu or grappling from a competition standpoint? no, we dont have that here. The closest we have is a couple guys teaching informal Hakko Ryu Denshin Jujutsu, which looks alot like aikido if you are familiar with that art. No, if there was a BJJ school in my town I probably would have gone to test my theories by now.

btw, I live in Galesburg Illinois. The MMA group is called oldschool elite and beau admire teaches the class. He is a pro mma fighter from the silverbacks team that fights around here. he teaches the amatuers. The closes BJJ place around here is probably a good hour away (estimated) and I dont have access to the transportation to go challenge one of them and dont see the practicality in going that far several times a week to train on a poor mans budget :p

it may seem very situational but you train this way to build muscle memory, when you become a black belt and you can fall and everything you begin to learn variations to the techniques, and more "what if they did this. what if they did that" kind of stuff

you just proved ... ( 1 week ago by japanesemartialarts2)
you just proved yourself wrong... "put gear on and try it in sparring" you cant "spar" with some of these moves, they are meant to be quick, painfully distracting, and effective, for some of these wrist locks, we know your not gonna let us just twist it untill its painful so martial artists are then taught to maybe backfist to the nose to take their attention from their wrist. it sounds situational but when you do it for decades it come naturally your name is budo you should know...
