| way, way back in the day they did 4 hour shows touring w/widespread and others (galactic sometimes) and hand out mushroom tea for 2 dollars a cup---off the chart good shows. |

| People seem to forget the real hard-working gen-X bands out there: Poppers, Slayer, the Black Crowes (I'm not a fan, but I highly respect good shows), and, of all people, Metallica (who still rock live; how many bands do that after their millionth show?), and older ones like Rush and Bad Company. I never would have thought it, but (some) rock has aged well. |

| the difference between metallica and blues traveller: a metallica show is a cd played on stage (every song played the same way, in the same order, same notes, show after show). it's what i call "cookie cutter shit". BT will start a song, begin an insane improvisation, and just see where it goes. no song the same, no show the same. a monkey could be trained to play in metallica. sorry, brother. i like their music, but their shows are soulless. |

| Clearly you're not a musician or have ever seen them live. You're wrong both coming and going- one, they have a huge series of variations in their live shows, I've seen them, and two, it's also inherently harder music to improv with (due to the speed, relative intricacies of the main riffs and choruses, and the fact James is both singer and rhythm). This is blues-rock, simple structure designed for improv. You're wrong on every single particular. |
