that the type of music it is, the sound of the guitars and drums, the guitar are fast and loud and the rhythm of it all make it indie music, listen to a pop song and then listen to this and try to pick out the difference in the music genre

´s not indie. Indie is short for indiependent. And bands who are indie aren´t signed to record labels. They make there recordings and all of that stuff them selves. But you are partually right because indie has become more of a musical genre than what the term means originally.

FINALLY someone gets it right. 8917tigu has the correct definition. bravo. Indie isnt just rock either it goes to rap and most any other genre. If you actually noticed VelvetGirl all the indie bands arn't well known and dont have a lot of hits like this video. Mainstream is the opposite of INDIE. they get about a million hits easy.

some of this vid was meant to be filmed at my house, but there wasn't enough light - but this is my street though. so instead of using my house, they used croften primary school, we went and met them there and they gave us autographs and let us stay on the set for a while. IT WAS AWESOME!!

Actually, Indie can mean the band is out on their own but usually refers to the band being signed to an independent record label, such as Fierce Panda, Rough Trade, Sub Pop etc- anything that isn't a subsidiary of a major, for example Regal is a cool label but part of Parlophone. Indie has become a genre to reflect a particular sound made famous in the late 80's and early 90's. I have been signed to both an Indie label and a major.

Fuck you sweetheart, of course it's pop music. It's just that it's REALLY GOOD pop music, not your average chart shite. I'm a huge fan too, seen them about 12 or more times. After todays news tho I won't be seeing them ever again :o(

No it's not. Indie is short for independant, meaning signed to an independant record label. The kooks etc are on major labels so is mumm-ra. This is quite poppy but very good.
