The interesting thing here is that Danielle had signed a deal with Sire in 88, and they released an album with tracks off the albums released on her own Awesome label, along with other unreleased tracks - including White Knuckle Ride. However, she was still indie chart-eligible as she released this on Awesome. Wonder if Sire wanted Danielle to glam up in the video, no doubt hoping to market her as a cooler, indie version of their biggest act, the future Mrs Ritchie;-)

As I remember it, she was always quite glamorous in her videos! But yes, you've got to wonder how much Sire were interfering at this point. From what I gather, it wasn't a very happy working relationship anyway.

Well the actual record sleeve for 'The Power Of Lard' was a picture of a deformed penis. So they couldn't really use that on screen at 11.50am on a Saturday could they?

Even if it was brought back, the explosion of music tv with back to back videos means the general idea of The Chart Show is dead. If a format was brought back - say from the Dec 91 to May 96 era, then even accounting for playing all the videos end to end it would be hours long. And given that most of these channels seem to be aimed at under 18's especially teen girls, do you think their attention span and their taste in music could take it?

Yeah me too, I remember all the clips.
I eventually found the CD single for "Never Stop" - it's actually an anti-American song, full of scary samples.
And I always wondered what the hell The Power of Lard could be about - having now listened to the song about 20 times I'm still not completely sure :-)

Its hard to believe now that she is 50 years old. She's gone completely into a different career. She's an interior designer. She's been on those BBC1 morning programmes about interior designing.
