Mitsubishi Electric Plant Engineering offers a modular 42-inch plasma display system that makes it possible to expand the screen by connecting panels together. The system is not only frameless but as thin as 76.5mm. When used with a rack, the system is about 30cm in thickness and can be used as a
wall-mount system. It has a brightness of 1,000cd/m2, bright enough to be used anywhere indoors. Each panel weighs 27kg, light enough to be carried, mounted or taken off by two people. Both horizontal and vertical view angles are 160 degrees, so the system can be placed in either higher or lower
positions to give good viewing angles. Mitsubishi Electric Plant Engineering plans to release a thinner and lighter multi-panel system next spring. Applications include displays for theaters to show previews, PR displays for commercial facilities, and control and monitoring panels at command cent
ers.
