Video Description:
Frisco 1522 stops for a run by on the N
W at Donnellson, IL. 6/28/92. This trackage was once the Nickel Plate line to St. Louis, MO. The 1522 blows a smoke ring at the start of the run by and when leaving town after the run by, the 1522 slips its drivers. The sound echos off an old grain elevator thats next to the tracks.

| I grew up in St. Louis in view of the Wabash tracks just north of Hamilton and west of St. Louis avenue in open fields (still open fields today). The Cannonball would fly by at 10:08 a.m. and the Blue Bird at 10:13 a.m. Every darned day. As a kid I devoted untold hours just watching the trains. I'd forgotten the majesty of it all. |
