What a fantastic video, shame it gets a bit out of sync towards the end but enjoyable none the less.
I was fortunate enoughto see Karajan and the berlin Phil play this in london circa 1987. By this stage the maestro was suffering acute back problems which severely restricted his movement, nevertherless, as with all karajan concerts, it was afabulous occasion.
This video brings back memories of a wonderful evening.

No, Karajan doesn't do that... its just that the picture and sound get out of sync, so that the picture is one bar ahead of the sound at the end.

Yeah, this is good. But try the Cleveland Orchestra with Lorin Maazel. The brass will blow your mind. This CD is hard to get. I got from Japan on line.

Deustche Grammophon recently released Karajan's 1973 Brahms cycle on DVD. These performances used to be on laserdisc, which is why you couldn't find them. Now, however, they are available to everyone, and I couldn't be happier!!
