Just think of all the people who have been and are being killed by police, jailed, and had/having property stolen because "laws" were passed this way. I would say that we should bring back the old Greek practice where, whenever a politician proposed a law, he was placed on a pedestal with a rope around his neck. Then the proposed "law" was read to the people and if the people didn't like it, they would kick the pedestal out from under him.
