elvis was american.. zeppelin was a blues band - an american genre, and hendrix blew them away anyway. the beatles didn't really reach their potential until they met dylan and realized lyrics could do more than she loves you yea yea yea and i wanna hold your hand. and let's not forget buddy holly wrote and performed his own songs long before the beatles did. as did blues artists like leadbelly and robert johnson before that. no disrespect. i agree british humor is superior but music? come on...

yeah my bad on the elvis thing he is american, but american genre? that's of no relevence what so ever, led zeppelin were british, the beatles - greatest band in music history = british. sex pistols, the clash, the who, oasis etc.

well, all those shows were conceived by the respective gentlemen you mentioned and then brought over to the states.. i dunno if the land of shakespeare ought to be overly proud of those particular entities, however... they are quite possibly the worst things ever to happen to television. the other guy in this video, on the other hand, (the reason i ended up here) is wonderful. (i was searching for clips of his stand up). glad i got you to relent at least a little... :)

No, douche bag, boy bands don't have to be pretty. They do have to be conceived by someone else to earn the moniker "boy band" that you try to label them with. And you obviously don't play music, because an entire set of down strokes on a guitar at break neck speed and on time will break your wrists, so to the moron's ear, you being the moron, it seems simple. i study and play music. you obviously overrate them. yes they were influential, but so were the monkees, fleetwood mac and p-diddy.
that's 1 of the criteria, the other one is that they form a band for other reasons than interest in music, which the ramonens did. heck, they're still better than sex pistols in that light, but my god they suck. joey was a character though, liked some of his style and lyrics

the sex pistols and the clash were both at the ramones first show in the uk. neither 'band' had even played a show... the beatles were a great pop band, but didn't reach their aristic potential until dylan gave them drugs and paul heard pet sounds. not necessarily jealous.. the beatles are obviously the greatest band ever. i'm just saying that saying 'everything british is the best' (which is the comment i was responding to) is maybe a bit short sighted... that's all. btw i'm korean.

i was in now way touting elvis. that other dude brought him up as an example of uk superiority and i was merely correcting him. listen i love the beatles. so much so that i know she loves you was inspired by a bobby rydell song. i also know they stole from the isley bros (a full song in one case). as for help! actually, it wasn't an instant hit necessarily.. it was their first album after meeting dylan. the folkier sound and the movie had people wondering why the beatles were suddenly stoned
