Go to 4:04. You can see a piece of chainmail coming out of his coat of arms or somekind of a piece of cloth anyway and ending to the gloves. ^^
Good point, but the ... ( 2 days ago by Waylander08)
Good point, but the arrowws obviously pierced deep and in reality armour would seriously only increase the pain, because when he twists, it should just pull on the arrow, tugging it. That kind of pain would be excrutiating, no man could continue to fight, let alone to fight Uruk, who are idiotically shit for a race bred to kill mankind, ruined the entire book for me, thsi scene
The chainmail only ... ( 2 days ago by Nirenn)
The chainmail only covers his arms. They're sewn into his sleeves just before the elbows.

But its the bow ... ( 2 days ago by Praw48)
But its the bow that the uruk-hai is using. ITs like, iron and almost a long bow. The english archers could pierce armor, so it wouldnt be strange if tolkien used that as a refference.

but no where near awesome enough for the kings of steel

Thanks! Hail! Boromir :'(
Yeah and the arrow ... ( 1 day ago by Waylander08)
Yeah and the arrow would still sink in and any movement would cause the armour to tug at it, just like I said
still an awesome ... ( 1 day ago by Praw48)
still an awesome scene though :D and Boromir's symbol is the shield, so ofcourse he could take more damage than a usual man.
yeah it's a good ... ( 1 day ago by Waylander08)
yeah it's a good scene, but I never really liked Boromir. And where are you getting this symbol stuff outta?? He carried a shield? That means nothing, Aragorn carried a claymore so does that mean that he's super sharp?
Its the symbolism ... ( 1 day ago by Praw48)
Its the symbolism that lay the foundation to all mmorpgs and rpgs. Boromir had without doubt, the biggest stamina in the party as Gimli, without doubt, was the strongest in the party.
Ah I get what ... ( 1 day ago by Waylander08)
Ah I get what you're saying now, but what does that make Frodo?
he's the very gay ... ( 1 day ago by Praw48)
he's the very gay one :D
Naah, but he is the destined one, the main character, the one with all the responsibility :D
I understand the ... ( 1 day ago by Waylander08)
I understand the symbolising thing, but firstly, that wouldn't affect anything in the film, or at least it shouldn't. Secondly, if Boromir had thought to use his shield, then maybe he could have deflected the arrows but nope, apparently that slipped his mind when he was getting shot. Another massive flaw
Totally, but I ... ( 1 day ago by Praw48)
Totally, but I recall Boromir leaving his shield by the riverbanks before trying to get the ring from frodo. After all, it is pretty logical, that shield was huge :P
That would explain ... ( 1 day ago by Waylander08)
That would explain it alright, I haven't seen the film in a long time, but I remember finding several bad parts in all of them. Ah, like four actual warriors who could fight on an island that is engulfed by Uruks and only one dies and all teh hobbits survive. Why they didn't just kill the two hobbits, merry and pippin, is lost to me and Uruks were the greatest craetions fo sorcerer, tehy should have not only killed them all, but also won at Helms Deep. Oh yeah, not ONCE was Legolas or gimli cut
true, it is very ... ( 1 day ago by Praw48)
true, it is very unrealistic in sense but that is because Tolkien wanted to emphazise the duty of a hero, that a hero is several times better than the regular soldier :P About the hobbits, Saruman didnt know which hobbit wore the ring, nor how many hobits there were, so thats why. Gimli, legolass and Aragorn do actually get hurt several times in the book (Not legolass though, he's too much of a wuss) but there is still a great emphazis on the superiority of a hero :P
That would be ... ( 1 day ago by Waylander08)
That would be Tolkiens view of a hero and while it glorifies Boromir, at teh end of the day he still dies, which ultimately says a man can only be a hero if he dies protecting people too weak to defend themselves. Heroes are supposed to protect the weaker and dying adds a sense of heroism to it, but all in all it was kinda stupid.Oh, that would explain about the hobbits all right, but in the movies, Arogorn tripped upa nd that was about the extent of the fellowships injuries
Except Gandalf, who ... ( 1 day ago by Praw48)
Except Gandalf, who fell through a mountain and died. And frodo, who got stabbed by the morgul blade :P Gimli, who got a worg, an orc and another worg on him aaaaaand Merry who almost got an Oliphant on him :D
Merry was never ... ( 1 day ago by Waylander08)
Merry was never actually wounded, Frodo got better two days later and Gandalf got back up with nothing more than white hair and Gimli wasn't injured by that!! He jast lay there grunting, he wasn't cut or stabbed. The only time you actually saw blood on a hero, I beleive, is when Gandalf got beat around by Saraman. You see my point? Ha ha
Heroes dont bleed! ... ( 1 day ago by Praw48)
Heroes dont bleed! :D
See, thats why Gandalf is the black sheep!
Yeah whatever ( 1 day ago by Waylander08)
Yeah whatever
Alright, excellent ... ( 19 hours ago by Waylander08)
Alright, excellent argument, looks like your intellectual. Right, on a heroic, spirituallevel, that's a great perception and ideal, but on a physical "oh my god I just got shot" level, it wouldn't count for a thing, ya know? Regardless of why he dies, his death is still highly illogical with the way he can fight after getting shot three times with a warbow, which should have driven the arrows in a LOT more, chainmail or not, at such a distance the internal damage would be catastrophic
