| First of all, I've been a fervent Obama supporter ever since he announced his candidacy way before Iowa. But let's not delude ourselves into thinking that he passed up public financing "because he believes in us." He gave up $85 million because he knows he can raise way more than that through the same kind of fundraising that got him to $200+ million, but even though I still love Obama to death, I still don't like the fact that he went back on his word. |

| He went back on his word so that he wouldn't engage in a broken system. Don't be so quick to listen to the mess some of these news organizations are whispering into your ear. Research the issue and you will see how politicians game the public finance system. McCain is being investigated for it by the Federal Election Commission. Obama did a very noble thing by opting out. |

| He didn't even go back on his word. Obama never signed a pledge, just answered a hypothetical question. In the meantime, McCain is in violation of FEC rules and gets away with it. Republicans are scared because so many people - not a few big money backers - are willing to put their money on Obama. |

| Absolutely. But it's also good to keep in perspective that everywhere in the world is like that, or everyone's broke. The bankers/ land owners are the wealthiest, because they "own" Earth, and that stuff's kinda limited...But I absolutley agree that it should never be that way here in the US. |
