Dale Hunter cheapshots Pierre Turgeon

Video Description:
The final game of the 1993 preliminary round playoff series between the Washington Capitals and New York Islanders. Pierre Turgeon steals the puck from Dale Hunter and scores. Incensed, Hunter follows Turgeon as he celebrates his goal, and runs him into the boards from behind. Turgeon ends up with a separated shoulder and will miss the next playoff series. Hunter is suspended 21 games.

That was a fucken' awesome hit. We need more of this in todays game. KIDS READING THIS: Always make your opponent pay with a beautifully executed hit like this when they break the rules, score an illegal goal and then hot dog to the crowd. You drive him right into the boards from behind and hurt him as badly as you can. Always remember that kids.

He meant that Turgeon should have only missed one game. Sneaky Pete just pulled a different type of disappearing act. There was less stress when he sat in the press box, while "nursing" his "tender" shoulder.

Thank you... at least someone has a brain around here. I guess accidentally typing "game" when I meant "series" is an unforgivable sin here in this den of still-bitter Isles fans. It wasn't even a hard hit- the boards did all the damage to Turgeon, not Hunter. Actually watch the video, you'll see Dale only gives him a shove, it's not like he winds up and deliveres a haymaker, or crosschecks him face first into the glass. He missed one series, it's not like this ended Pierre's career.

It doesn't matter how hard he hit him. It was at least 3 seconds after he already scored. Hunter just got pissed because it was his fault that Turgeon scored. It was a completely classless act that should forever taint Hunter's career. It's not even like Turgeon is a physical player. It would have been different if he did it to someone like Pilon who was known to dish it out... and if it wasn't a blindsided hit... and it wasn't well after the play...

Dale hunter was a tenacious hockry player but was a chippy dirty player.He rarely fought anyone,just cheapshots on guys who were not fighters.Hunter was a classless individual and will forever be known as such,God what an asshole he was.I remember when he was with the Nords I took my 2 kids to a game at the forum,my oldest boy got an autograph from Goulet and one from Pat Price,we seen Hunter and he just kind of walked by,pretending not to notice,what an incredible asshole.
