I`m 18 too and I think this song is awesome. Today there are still some great progrock bands like Tool, Mars Volta, Porcupine Tree, Opeth or Dream Theater.

these bands aren't prog rock, they're "prog metal". The sound of 70's was another thing. Dream Theather are a band that play without passion and their sound is cold....

Opeth play metal and were born in 1990. Genesis were born in late 60's. The difference is great between the two bands.

you're right! In 70's there were majestic bands as Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Rainbow, Genesis, Yes, King Crimson, Emerson Lake & Palmer, Uriah Heep, Kansas, Le Orme, PFM, Banco del Mutuo Soccorso.

It's wrong to say that music has gotten worse. The music from yesterday still remains and new bands like Opeth, Porcupine Tree, Koenjihyakkei and Ruins are making great music. As said, you are'nt listening hard enough.

This is great to see these guys play like this when they were young. So simple and complex at the same time. Musician using their imagination ...more than their anger and frustration...is very refreshing to see. Phil Collins is an amzing drummer...check out early Brand X sometime for proof.

Just imagine. If this song were re-released today, it would be the talking-point of the month. Everyone and anyone asking each other "have you heard that 9-minute masterpiece?". It was revolutionary then and it would be even more so now.
If pre-teen's could be peeled momentarily from their Jonas Brothers records to hear a minute of this, it would blow their minds. Shame that.

As a keyboardist myself most influenced by Genesis, Floyd, Supertramp and ELP in the 70, I find this video only increases my yearning for more great progressive rock. Young people - give us more! Tell us a story in rhyme, sing us a spiritual lesson, open your heart and play through the sounds, not just the word. More like this!

I can hear no metal in albums like: The Sky Moves Sideways or Bedlam In Goliath. That`s true that some bands, I mentioned,are prog metal but I`d never say about Mars Volta metal. Listen more, than comment.

Don't compare Genesis with Opeth. Enough already with Opeth. I'm getting tired of all this mention of Opeth. I agree they are great musicians but I think Genesis is great classic band. Let's leave it as that.

I listen to Mars Volta. But they aren't Prog dude. Progressive sound, progressive aproach, but that's it. They are a great Rock Jam band. Yes, their songs are long and divided in suits, but that solely doesn't make them a Prog Band. It would be like saying that all those Post Rock bands are also Prog. I agree with you on Opeth, they are Prog, NOW. Not before. And btw I don't really care. If the Music is good,I really don't care if it's Rock, Metal,Prog,Post Rock or whatever.Good is good, Period.

So what happened to this good Genesis all I remember Genesis being was a crappy rip off 80's band with Phil Collins. Is Phil in this line-up?

To make a long story short: Genesis was never a "commercial success" with this lineup. And this was during their artistic/musical peak from "Nursery Crime" to "The Lamb". Being artistic and musically adventurous doesn't pay the bills in our "era of mass stupidity". Thus, they wrote a couple of catchy pop-tunes (in the late 70's early 80's) with a mass appeal,and that was the end of "Epic Gensis" forever and always.
