I adore Amy Winehouse and I even like the version that she did because she gave it her on twist BUT Ella is so SUPREME!!! Ella's voice always hits me in all the right places...so smooth. And because I'm a geek, I named one of my hard disks Ella ;)

Amy's version is incredible, she did it justice. She kept it very similar, but with more instruments. I haven't heard a better version. It's also very ironic that she would sing this song, she really does need someone to watch over her. That's what makes Amy's version more real to me.

You shouldn't measure one's talent and personality by their lifestyle.
Winehouse sure is a mess, but I do believe she's talented.
That being said, I don't see why you'd compare her to Ella. I think they're both great in their own rights, but so incredibly different. It's like comparing apples to oranges.
Don't swear on people you're not into though. Don't be negative. Peace and love.
