Great technique... ... ( 5 days ago by iamJROD)
Great technique...The flamenco guitar is amazing...I personaly like classical guitar a little better...To me the flamenco guitar seems like its just A bunch of right hand gymnastics as opposed to the classical guitar which seems to be more musical...Classical guitar pieces seem to be more individual...Flamenco pieces sound a lot alike.

It is not fair to compare them. The instrument may be very similar but the music and their origins are so far apart that they are two different beasts.

To BFGUITAR I think we can compare them...The classical and flamenco guitar use similar techniques like arpeggios, scale, slurs etc...The classical and flamenco guitar are both from spain they just use different types of wood...You said the music and the origins are so far apart? How can that be? They are both from the spanish people...I just think both styles borrowed from each other.
All instruments ... ( 2 days ago by BFGUITAR)
All instruments have arpeggios, scales, slurs... The classical guitar's music is not traditional like flamenco. The origins of flamenco is in dance. The guitar is suppose to accompany a singer and dancer. Classical guitar generally can be looked at as a concert instrument, you play to listen and enjoy. A classical guitarist of the time would have zero connections to flamenco. The technique especially is completely different. The tone is also different.

To BFGUITAR During ... ( 1 day ago by iamJROD)
To BFGUITAR During the baroque guitar period composers like Gaspar Sanz where using rasgueados which is a flamenco technique in pieces and this was during the 1600's and we also know that Gaspar Sanz composed pieces that are played in the classical guitar repetoire like canarios. My point is that they are related to each other because its all from the spaniards.

The guitar during ... ( 23 hours ago by BFGUITAR)
The guitar during the baroque era did not make it's way outside Spain (lute was preferred). There was no flamenco or classical guitar at the time, it was just "guitar". When guitar moved outside of Spain it was viewed as an instrument not for dance/song but for composition like piano. Thus people made music for guitar in the style of "classical music" with the goals of performing like one would on piano. New techniques were made to accomodate the drastic music change and the guitar split paths.
