Chapter 24- The rest of the weekend flew by. Hannah and Nick were all of a sudden inseparable. Kelsey spent Saturday and Sunday in her backyard thinking about how her moods were all of a sudden lifted just from being with Joe. Sure, she was happy, but she that it was him that made her happy. It w
as Sunday and Kelsey was laying out in her backyard. She heard her mom's voice and then she heard John's. She sat up and wrapped a towel around her and headed up to her room. She laid down on her bed and sighed. She would eventually have to get used to this man being around her house. She changed ou
t of her bikini and pulled out her journal, something she hadn't done in awhile. As she took out a pen, she heard her mom call her down for dinner. She joined them at the table for the first time since she found out about John. They ate in silence and when Kelsey went back upstairs, she fell straigh
t to sleep. She didn't wake up till the next morning to the sound of her phone buzzing. "Hello", she said sounding sleepy. Joe laughed a bit. "What are you doing today?", Joe asked her in a somewhat perky voice. Kelsey sighed. "I'm going to school", she said. "Oh, you should ditch with me today", J
oe said. Kelsey contemplated the idea for half a second. "It's not ditching for you if you don't have school, plus my mom will kill me. I can't", Kelsey said. Joe sighed. "Alright", Joe said sounding disappointed. "Joe, don't be like that, but considering everything that has happened, my mom would b
e super worried and stuff", Kelsey said. "I know. Don't worry about it. It's ok, I will call you later", Joe said. They hung up the phone and Kelsey got up and jumped in the shower. She got ready for the day and made her way downstairs to get breakfast only to see John standing in his boxers at t
he fridge. All of a sudden losing her appetite, Kelsey headed out the door and to the bus stop. She hated not having her own car. The bus ride was quiet and full of kids that were still half asleep. When she arrived at school she walked inside and did her normal routine. She walked into the bathroom
and did her makeup because she never had time to do it at home. She then walked to her locker and got the books she would need for first period. Kelsey was standing at her locker when she felt a light tap on her shoulder. She turned around slowly to see Caitlyn standing in front of her. Déjà vu,
she thought herself, oh wait, this had happened before. She waited to the monster to attack with her words, but Caitlyn smiled, that was something she wasn't expecting. Kelsey timidly smiled back. "How was your weekend?", Caitlyn asked. Kelsey stared at her with shock, but realized she probably loo
ked like an idiot. She cleared her throat. "Um, it was ok. I was in the city on Friday and a little bit of Saturday, but then I had to come home to my mom and her new boyfriend", Kelsey said. Oops, she thought to herself. She wasn't sure if her mom wanted everyone to know that. "Your mom's boyfriend
?", Caitlyn asked. "Uh yeah, just some guy. They aren't that serious", Kelsey lied. She couldn't believe that she was having a civilized conversation with a girl that had hated her guts three weeks prior. "Oh, well I kind of have something to talk to you about", Caitlyn said. Kelsey's eyes shot up
towards Caitlyn's face. "Um, shoot", Kelsey said. She could see Hannah standing by her locker. "Well, last Monday, I don't know if you remember, but I kind of apologized to all the hurtful things I had done of the last two years and I didn't receive anything back. I know I have been cruel, but hon
estly Kelsey, seeing you like that was a lot to take in. I had lost you and I was mad, please forgive me", Caitlyn said. Kelsey stared up at her in shock once again. Caitlyn was asking for forgiveness. That was rare. Kelsey felt her eyes start to water. "Um, hold on", Kelsey said. She took off runn
ing. She ran outside of the school and out onto a bench. Her tears had spilled over and wouldn't stop falling. She pulled her phone out of her bag and dialed the one person she knew would understand. "Joe?", Kelsey said as she heard someone answer the phone. "What's up?", Joe said. Kelsey tried to
calm down. "Please come pick me up", Kelsey said. Joe hung up the phone and headed out towards his old high school. Song:That's What You Get By:Paramore
