| Anybody who decides to contradict what green day is trying to convay (im not retarded i know thy are redoing a john lennon clasic)green day is just trying to show to that public that they agree with john lennon and how the attacks on darfur are impacting everyone there and any charity trying to help the people of the country anybody who thinks otherwise and the people of Darfur need to fighure it out on their own are wrong and that charities are doing the right thing and should countiue to do so |

| Well, it's convey. And you're right. The Lennon version is clearly better, but Green Day is a good band, especially their old stuff, and by doing this cover, they weren't trying to steal his song and make themselves seem like they're the shit. They were simply covering a classic and putting on an album that's charitable. |

| what would Green Day have anyone do?? Ask the bad people politely to stop? to stop madness madness is required. As soon as the US went in, kicked butt, and took names Green Day would be back out with a new song (or another cover) telling everyone that the US has no right to make war in another country. while Green Day does make good music, they are tit-sucking babies. |

| I don't believe that Green Day would cover a song like "Working Class Hero" to be better than someone. There are a few possible motives behind it ranging from okay to noble. Please at least try to make an open-minded opinion before you just write what you think. Success is gained more when you think, I mean for real, before you speak. |

| It is the human nature to join the winning side of a fight. They do write exemplary songs and they may or may not contradict their own words in a situation like the one you mentioned, but EVERYBODY has to train themselves to hold a side. We are naturally against losing, so if any involvement were to go wrong, they would feel the need to redeem themselves and hence the urge to turn on their belittled beliefs. |

| i agree - when Lennon wrote the song it was on a completely different story, namely the struggle of the middle class workers. However, i believe green day thinks it adapts to darfur in some verses because they took the lines quite literally, like "they tortured and scared you for 20 odd years". Another reason could be that for those in darfur, aspiring to be a middle class hero, would be a wonderful aspiration compared to what they have to deal with? *shrug* just my two cents |
