Doubt that u know anything about their 'conditions'. There are 100,000+ soldiers in Iraq. If you took 100,000 regular young Australian men you could find examples of animal cruelty, vandalism, rude/insensitive behavior. If you think anything on this video was 'depraved' get a life and then grab a history book. (If you like depravity turn to a chapter on converting Australia's indigenous people to christianity: loads of fun...)

Ditto on the stress thing, plus assholes abound in every country (heard of UN peacekeepers fucking little kids in Haiti and other places?) Depraved actions not on this video as such, but we all know its happening. Not having a go at Americans(have lots of family there) I'm just saying you'd expect more thoughtfullness? Or are they drugged ;) Of course there would be some great US guys. But in general I think the Canadians/Aussies go out of their way to be nicer if they can just due to those countries respective lifestyles & demeanour. Um rant randomly guess what, Australia is the Western World and part of the British Empire/Commonwealth which created the West...Showing your ignorance.We're basically the same people as you. Honest to god our troops just think more before they shoot, and are more pro less show, and actually try to interact with the locals! Not stay distant which builds barriers.. You can find accounts of troop behaviour of the Aussies v Americans in Vietnam and Iraq... You'd be surprised.

Ignorant? When did I claim that Australia was not a Western country? I was making the point that the US provides the military backbone of the alliance/association between our nations. A central bank of security if you will. (2 my never-ending delight as a tax payer.) Despite this fact there is a huge amount of scorn heaped on the US from ungrateful European/ECT people who do not appreciate the sacrifices they would have to make to provide for their own security.

What do you base these sweeping generalizations that Australian troops have a better temperament then American? Talking to the locals and thinking before shooting: r they at war or a tea party? And what do you talk about? The enlightened Muslim view of women? Do they give you advise on attitudes on gays? How about freedom of speech: Grow a pair! Talking with locals gets you more on-side with them, making it easier to interact with them in future, builds rapport and you're more likely to get intelligence out of them instead of making them hate you. Makes it easier to do your job as well as makes your job and stay more pleasant. This is where we stand apart. Firepower whatever you're the same. Example of thoughtfulness? RAAF plane using a sonic boom to flush out iraqis instead of dropping a bomb..tricked them without life lost.. :)

Yeah reality can get pretty ugly, only few can withstand the perversion of war, most soldiers don't excell in people skills or many other skills at that age anyway and so ofcause we let them deal with delicate and dangerous situations.
Those afghany kids are just surviving hell and would slice their heads of with the same grin on their face and who can blame them.
Better think twice before you start hell i guess.
