they are not trumpets, they are soprano bugles in the key of "g" (probably made by kanstul or dynasty)...not Bb trumpets...very different in sound and feel and approach in playing. trumpets have a cylindrical bore where the bugles have a conical bore similar to the cornet. how am i certain? because i stood right in front of these guys listening to them live for 3 years in a row when drum corps international finals were in orlando...

Nope. They are called soprano bugles and they are pitched in G not Bb like a trumpet.

They must have been a little off their game that day. I saw them twice, and in each case no one, and I mean not a single sole walked past them.
The first time, there was a knot of what seemed like 200 people clustered around. Saying they were awesome does not do that group jusice.

I caught them about six months before they were canned. They were freaking amazing! I was one of the few clapping in the audience :( One of the guys came over and thanked me for it. Just terrific performers all around.
