Hi, I'm more then happy to try to help. As a drum student I had the good fortune to study with Ed Shaughnessy, the Tonight Show drummer with Doc Severinsen. When discussing difficult phrases he suggested three things to me.
1. Analyze 2. Memorize 3. Recognize. Of course your greatest asset is your ears. I would listen to troubling phrases repeatedly until they were embedded in my mind. Once they're in there.... there in there. Sammy is a great arranger and this is a fun chart. Good Luck !!!
