i do agree. it does sound like she was a rape victim because it talks about someone taking her innocence away. spousal abuse wouldn't talk your innocence away.

I really like how they use the word innocence. When I think innocence I think that they are a victum. So I think they use innocence so anyone one can relate to it.

not everyone has the same pain tolerance or the same outlook on life. children beaten by parents have their innocence stolen because they never get the chance to know a parents' love. Innocence doesn't just mean virginity, it means anything and everything that can only be taken once. I'm not saying your experience was any less traumatizing, but other people may not know how to deal with things that have happened to them. It's a powerful song that reaches out to everyone in their own minds.

OK I went to wikipedia and it is a song dedicated to women of domestic abuse. I do know it takes away your innocence. My sister in law was abused severely and still has issues. A lady that had no reason to mistrust men lost her trust in them when her husband beat her and put a gun to her head. She lost all trust in men and I'd say because of that she lost her innocence. Abuse takes away your innocence

Just because it says "innocence" it dosent just mean virginity. It could mean anwhere from Abuse to Rape to Neglect. it could mean anything that was taken with force or without concent. Innocence by World Book Dictionary means- "Freedom from sin, wrong, or guilt. lack of sense; ignorance; and/or silliness."
