The damage caused in Myanmar by Cyclone Nargis

Uploaded by: RnW
Video Description:
Footage from a video of the damage caused in the Irrawaddy Delta region of Myanmar (formerly called Burma) by Cyclone Nargis which devastated the coastal region on 2-3 May.
134,000 people are estimated to have been killed and the United Nations estimates that 2.5 million people have been affected by what is being called the country's greatest disaster in living memory.
The tightly controlled local media have been showing only positive images of generals distributing food aid to grateful refugees, but videos such as this were being sold illegally on every street corner in Yangon days after the disaster. The videos sold like hotcakes to people in the cities and further regions hungry for real information.
