At the same time ... ( 4 days ago by manhoot)
At the same time the band drew ire from longtime metal fans who found their new recordings far too commercial, polished and poppy. This was after Pukesteria was released. See, album sales do not equate good music. Apparently 16 million dolts don't know the difference.

There are at least 7 songs on the Hysteria album that are classics. Just because you don't like them does not change this fact. You are going in circles now man. First you try to say Hysteria was shit. I disprove you. Then you try to blame the band for Steve's passing. Again I disprove that. Now you are back to the Hysteria is "dreck" shit again.

I could find many, many people who say the exact opposite about Hysteria. It's one of the all time classic albums. Just because you don't like the change in their style does not change the fact that it's a great album front to back.
Personally I could give a shit less what Martin Poppoff says. David Fricke of Rolling Stone says it's one of the all time greatest albums.

Your criteria for ... ( 3 days ago by manhoot)
Your criteria for what constitutes good British rock must be pretty low then. Folks that truly appreciate British metal will turn their back on Hysteria. You disproved absolutely nothing.

Martin Poppoff probably gives a fuck less what you think too.
So which one are ... ( 3 days ago by Jacksonpc1)
So which one are you a fan of metal or rock. Make up your damn mind now. Def Leppard had a foot in metal in the beginning but they were never a metal band. If 16 million albums sold is turning your back then so be it. Hysteria is the definition of British rock. If you can't see that then you must be blind.
Guess what nitwit. ... ( 3 days ago by Jacksonpc1)
Guess what nitwit. Most DL fans could give a shit what you think too. If you don't like the band, don't listen. But more importantly don't comment when you have no clue what you are talking about. You have said many things already that aren't even close to the truth. You trash the band because you are all butt hurt about Pete's dismissal. That has to the reason you continue to do this because your other arguments are invalid because myself and others have disproven them time and again.
Oh you have to be ... ( 3 days ago by manhoot)
Oh you have to be fucking kidding? Seems you can't stand it when someone challenges you which must not be very often so you are used to laying down the edict and all the minions believing it. Hysteria being the definition of British rock? Get fucking real? Have you been drug tested lately? What about Maiden? Priest? Nazareth? holy fucking cow, are you on Leppards PR payroll?
Seems to me you ... ( 3 days ago by Jacksonpc1)
Seems to me you can't admit when you are wrong. YOU can't call DL rock and metal in the same sentence. Pick an argument and stick to it. I love a good challenge and to this point you have yet to do that. You just incoherently babble about Pete being the most important member of Leppard. Myself and others have told you this is not the case. Phil and Vivian are both superior players to Pete. You just can't seem to grasp this fact.
As for the payroll ... ( 3 days ago by Jacksonpc1)
As for the payroll comment I'm not sure what I can say. But I will say this. If you think I'm on Leppard's payroll you are surely on Pete's. And his payroll ain't the only thing you are on. You need to come up for air.

Oh give it up will you. You just can't get with the program and accept the fact that DL was a much better band with Pete in it. Were they commercially more successful after Pete? Yes, thanks to MTV and mainstream record production. You still insist that a band has to sell 16 fucking million albums to be considered "good" you are full of feces my friend
In your opinion DL ... ( 3 days ago by Jacksonpc1)
In your opinion DL were a better band with Pete. Millions of others have a different view of it. It doesn't make them wrong or you right. It's simply a matter of taste and opinion. I understand you like the harder sound of the early stuff. I like it too. But you can't discount all of the other stuff they have done either. I believe the only reason you are saying all this negative crap is because you are pissed about Pete's dismissal.
You bet I am. Have ... ( 3 days ago by manhoot)
You bet I am. Have been since 1982. I had their first 2 albums on fucking 8 track! Then they rocked out with their bollocks out and they were a fucking good band! It just seems hypocritical to boot Pete but put up with Clark's stuff (JE admitted Clark would try to break his fingers before a show so as not to go on) Pete had his problems sure, but did they try to help him like they did Clark? No. I don't really have any respect for them now but for JE, I have zilch as in negative.
Big difference ... ( 3 days ago by Jacksonpc1)
Big difference between Pete and Steve. Although Steve for sure had his problems, drinking, and stagefright just to name two. He never showed up to rehearsals or gigs drunk and wanting to fight everyone. If you think that Pete's dismissal was do to an incident that happened only one or two times, you are incorrect. He did this on numerous occasions and was told to stop. He chose the bottle over his career plain and simple.
As you can imagine, ... ( 3 days ago by manhoot)
As you can imagine, I don't think like millions of people. I think independently. I don't follow the Top 40. I don't wait for MTV to play a vid over and over and over till I puke just so I can say, gee what a great song. Hysteria got a LOT of airplay. So did Pyromania. IMHO bands took advantage of this rather than put out good music. Unfortunately, DL succumed to this disease like others. Whom do you respect more? A woman who fucks her man like a porn star or one who fucks every man she sees?
With some of your ... ( 2 days ago by Jacksonpc1)
With some of your comments I'm pretty sure you don't think much at all. ;) I wouldn't say they took advantage of MTV. I would say they that they used it to their advantage. Def Leppard like many bands who came before them and after them, wanted to be the biggest band in the world. The difference is that DL actually achieved this in the mid to late 80's.

Actually I do. And I think Hysteria is pure dreck through and through.

Provide us with some reasoning behind that statement. We know that you think it's "dreck" but give us some supporting arguments other than Pete was not around to make it.
All the songs have ... ( 2 days ago by manhoot)
All the songs have no "balls". They don't kick ass. They don't really stand out in a sea of mediocrity. They aren't classics even using the loosest definition. I can hum Foolin, High and Dry or Rock of Ages but I never find myself humming anything from Hysteria. As I said MANY FUCKING TIMES, if this band STARTED with Hysteria, then sure, it would be ok because they have nothing to compare to. But it does not hold a candle to the first three albums save for unit sales.
I respect your ... ( 2 days ago by Jacksonpc1)
I respect your opinion but if you can't hum songs like Gods Of War and Armageddon it, wow. Many, many bands do the same thing with their sound. It's not uncommon at all for a band to change their musical style. Bands like Aerosmith and Metallica come to mind immediately. The difference is that those guys don't get crucified for it. But honestly, how do we know who was responsible for the change? Was it the bands members maturing, Mutt Lange or something else. I don't think we will ever know.
