Al Stewart - Year of the cat

Uploaded by: ElaineMarley
Video Description:
The version with the piano solo in the beginning.
Lyrics: On a morning from a Bogart movie In a country where they turn back time You go strolling through the crowd like Peter Lorre Contemplating a crime She comes out of the sun in a silk dress running Like a watercolour in the rain Don't bother asking for explanations She'll just tell you that
she came In the year of the cat. She doesn't give you time for questions As she locks up your arm in hers And you follow 'till your sense of which direction Completely disappears By the blue tiled walls near the market stalls There's a hidden door she leads you to These days, she says, I feel my li
fe Just like a river running through The year of the cat She looks at you so cooly And her eyes shine like the moon in the sea She comes in incense and patchouli So you take her, to find what's waiting inside The year of the cat. Well morning comes and you're still with her And the bus and the tou
rists are gone And you've thrown away the choice and lost your ticket So you have to stay on But the drum-beat strains of the night remain In the rhythm of the new-born day You know sometime you're bound to leave her BUt for now you're going to stay In the year of the cat.

I totally agree! There is nothing like the sound of a vinyl! A few years back for my 15th birthday, I requested a record player and everywhere I go I look for good vinyls. I have tons, from Frank Sinatra to everything 70s and 80s! But, a vinyl of this is top on my list at the moment. This is such a great song. I am totally taken with this song!!

What ignorance! I like this song so I am old? You insult with words like "faggot" because you have no depth of emotion, no true understanding of love and caring. Listen to some more old songs and grow a heart, grow a personality. I may not be homosexual but I am embarassed to be straight if you are among my numbers. This song is timeless, it knows no age and neither do the people who enjoy the lyrics and music. Take it from and "Old" guy hate kills you from inside, "All Ya Need Is Love....."

A terrific song. Brings back some good memories.I find that most people who've heard this song, but haven't seen it performed, think that Al Stewart must be the pianist, as well as the vocalist. The way the piano is played reminds me of Bruce Hornsby, ("That's just the way it is...").
