the people, dj's and the radio control hip hop. people most of all. people decide if a song is hot. they request the songs on the radio. radio has to play the hottest songs because they want the most listeners. the radios also have to break new exclusive songs to compete with other radio stations, thats what the djs are for. djs they determine what the new record thats poppin at the club/street is . and that record that gets the clubs/streets crazy is determined by the people.

record labels dont control hip hop because they dont give a fuck about hip hop. they care about making money. if the artist has a buzz on the street label gives more promo money if not the artist is fucked.

The people do not control hip hop, just like the people do not control whats on the menu at a resteraunt. The lable, radio and Television that play the raunchy videos are all in control. The people buy only what they have access to!! If the above entities keep playing the same old crap day in and day out, this is only what the consumer will look for!!
