Good point. They can always use rail transport. I have a feeling though that the inner-urban societies like Manhattan, Chicago, Tokyo, Dubai, etc.. will still survive because their energy usage per person is a lot lower than suburban areas. Do you agree?

Good point, but we can always destroy the suburbs to make farmland, but that wont be easy. So basically you think that the inner-urban societies like Manhattan, Chicago, Tokyo, Dubai, etc.. will collapse? Right?

If the suburbs will become unlivable, what will happen to the city core? how much more will the inner city be crippled?
I have a feeling ... ( 2 weeks ago by Cyrus992)
I have a feeling that the inner cities will survive, but their appearance and usage will change.
The suburbs of course will probably be hit hard and lose their value. Good luck trying to keep your "privacy"!!!
What logic do you ... ( 2 weeks ago by realsamwise)
What logic do you use to think cities will survive? Food has to come further yet. In the burbs we have yards to use as gardens where will city dwellers raise food? The biggest threat we in the burbs will have is the throng of starving city refugees
If you are correct ... ( 2 weeks ago by realsamwise)
If you are correct then the only place to be will be in the country. It's the only place where people can sped out enough to be able to take care of their own needs in a primitive post industrial economy. We will replace oil or we will not. If we do then the burbs will still be the place to be if we don't then the last tank of gas we use will be driving into the country as far as we can
The burbs may ... ( 2 weeks ago by realsamwise)
The burbs may indeed be the slums of tomorrow but they will be occupied by the same people who occupy the slums of today. Today's suburbinites will have moved to small towns and the country. Once there is no gas "The country" will be a lot closer then it is now.
Actually this is ... ( 2 weeks ago by realsamwise)
Actually this is already happening. The sub prime real estate issue has made homes in the burbs cheaper then they have been and may city dwellers are taking the chance to get while the getting is good! Check out "Suburbia in Black & White"
Here is why we are ... ( 2 weeks ago by realsamwise)
Here is why we are doomed. Today I saw Nancy Pelosi Dem. rep from CA. Doing EXACTLY what we can expect from politicians. Asking the government to release its oil reserves to drive prices down. Only price will get anyone to conserve. But lowering costs/helping the poor pay for oil is a ticket to office. She says "Natural gas is the way to go. "It's Cheap abundant and clean unlike fossil fuels". Nobody has told her natural gas is a fossil fuel and is neither cheap abundant or "clean" it seems.
realsamwise: you ... ( 2 weeks ago by philipmp10)
realsamwise: you apparently do not understand the use of energy. Having to haul in my food the extra 20 miles to the city is alot less energy intensive than hauling in my fat ass every day to work. On top of that, my food can be brought in on rail much easier than I can ride the rails in to work from some far flung suburb. Look to Europe and you'll see where we will become if oil coutinues to climb.

Many of what they say here ,, in some way already happened in latin america.
Neighborhoods of huge houses became slums, since people could not support them. (oil didnt have nothign to do about it)..any way..it was and it is.. horrible.

phillipmp10 I telecommute (VPN Internet) to work, grow my own food in my yard and drive less than 1,000 miles per year. The reality is that powerful interests don't want Americans to own homes with their own yards instead they want them to pay all their slave labor wages for rent. It's really a big swindle (land grab) by Politicians and Robber Barons.

well the 'reason' for African American population is ummm? i dont know this is a tough one? hmmmm.....maybe it was fuckin SLAVERY you racist piece of shit. this country has had slaves longer than not having slaves. white people enslaved us, let us free without capital (40 acres and a mule) in a capitalist society and wonder why so many resort to crime and other excesses of poverty. then you run and hide to you suburbs when you're scared. FUCK U!

Great video - very educational (FIVE STARS!) It puts a dent on conspiracy theories too. In my opinion these are allowed to run rampant in our society (especially here on YT) as a means to pass on the information to the masses in the form of 'superstition.' Did you know Bush's ranch has all manner of devices for sustaining life after Peak Oil hits? Google it. It'll make you see the kind of human being(sic) he is, knowing full well the cause & effect of this after being born into an oil family.
