ok this man showed us what bebop blues and jass could be like. this man most defenety thought ought of the box. he is a hero to jass and blues in my opinon. and if he was so bad then why would some of the toop jass musitans be playing whith him.?

Your ears are not able, your spirit is too young, your heart too shallow, and your mind too feeble to understand.

try transcribing this and check out the unusual and clever voicings he uses.... he "invented" bebop so don't diss the man. One of the couple of jazz muscicians that made the cover of the times... try shredding a whole tone scale that fast?? I'd like to see u play this piece
He composed this ... ( 1 month ago by raisethebar1)
He composed this tune when he was 19, calling it Grand Finale. I saw the original score, written in pencil, shown me by his wife, Nellie, when I was visiting them in their apartment on West 63rd St. in NYC.....He was not only a creative(though in those days underappreciated) giant, but a good person. A major book about him will be out soon.

you shouldn't be so eager to announce your ignorance to the world. next time just stick with things you know and are comfortable with like britney spears and the backstreet boys.

your comment cannot be thumbed down any further; do you know how to appreciate this music? grab a hot girl by her waist and take a ride while you sip on whisky watch the trees and the buildings through that open sunroof. then breathe deeply and make an effort to relax and enjoy the moment. you will find out what elegance and comfort means and you will remember a time like that until you're too old to remember anything

Monk forever! It's like he just discovered the instrument and is so eager to explore it that he almost trips himself up and the result is so unique and beautiful. Tentativeness as an artform. There's no one like him.

A person who listens to BeBop giants, like Parker and Dizzy, is impressed and acutely aware of heightend audio/mental stimulation created by virtuosity. However, for me, Monk acheives the same plateau with more of a minimalist approach.
