I got into Saxon at age 14. Spinal Tap said in an interview that Saxon's bassist was the main influence on Derek Smalls, doesn't suprise me! check out ODS Saxon it's the other two original guys bassist and guitarist from this era. Spinal Tap's bassist is modeled after Saxon's bassist, i read it i
n a Spinal Tap interview.

Oh dear ! badly advised on their image at this time,still, saw them on the bomber tour with motorhead in the good old days and see the`re about to tour again together later this year ,have to go to that one albeit with a shaved head ,hair was down to my waist til 10 years ago when i started to resemble roy wood it had to go!

dont be fooled by this performance or their clothing, this was in spain 1985 bad management tried to get them to appeal to the mtv and usa bubblegum rock market, but saxon rock harder now in 2008 than they ever did theyr still one of the hottest live bands on the planet, new album out in a few months, listen to their lionheart cd , you will know what i mean then, amazing metal band.

yeah but thats all over now , saxon have been back to winning ways since 1990 , amazing live band and one of the greatest, theyr on tour with motorhead in uk 2008 in november, new ep out same time , new album january 2009 , i cant wait.

It's a shame singers usually are the ones that people follow, after they were both sacked by biff and they now have their own version OD (oliver/dawson) Saxon, with nigel durham on drums who played on the destiny album.
