I use a daily face wash in the shower, then when I get out, I soak a wash rag in hot water and apply it to my face for about 30 seconds. Next, I apply a little of the Proraso pre-shave which has an invigorating eucalyptus-menthol kick to it. Previously, I have used King of Shaves menthol pre shaving oil, and that works well, but I've found that the small bottle loses its menthol power after only a short time. After massaging in the pre-shave cream, I apply my shaving cream without rinsing.

Spynovel- They can for some people but its usually not a problem because it doesn't stay on the skin very long.

1a1a2a3a- I generally discourage shaving in the shower, for safety reasons (dropping a razor on your foot!).

peposo7- I've never tried it myself but I have heard of others putting on a bit of olive oil prior to shaving. They say it works for them! :) Regarding the cartoon at 0:23, sorry, don't remember where I got it from.

I have a problem with ingrown hairs, I use a product called Bumper stoper to help reduce the amount of razor bumps/ingrowns, it has served it's purpose very well. But I am getting tired of the electric razor not coming close enough, I want to try following your techniques but scared of those awefull Bumps/ingrowns! any advice you can give would be helpful.

cougercruiser- Using a single-blade razor, a shave brush with traditional lather, and beard reduction techniques will considerably reduce the likelyhood of ingrowns.

thebst one in my oppinion is the merkur HD (or heavy duty as its reffered too) its great for a beginner and gives generally a good shave what type of shave creams were you looking at ?
