sometimes there comes a point when the student passes the teacher.
duane allman's music legacy will live forever but as much as i admire him, i think derek trucks' slide artistry has now gone to another level. & i think duane allman would be digging derek's stuff the most of anyone at all
thank goodness for duane allman & thank goodness for derek trucks, the world's a more beautiful place with the sound of their music on it.& dt put himself together a pretty fair band too

no way. he goes straight into his amp. if youve ever played a fender princeton reverb, the things get freakin nasty man. they sound so good and produce the best natural distortion ever. thats why derek has only been using the same amp for the past 15 years.

Perhaps you're right. I was just guessing based on the sound I get running my Epiphone thru an Ibanez Tube screamer. VERY similar sound. I guess you could call it a "Poor" man's setup! lol!

I've always read that he uses a old blackface Super Reverb. Pretty much all of the older Fender amps get a really nice grind going when you crank them. Well, aside from the Twin of course, and that's only because you'd be deaf before the grind started to kick in (barring the use of an iso cab). Mine sounds great, but unless I wanna icepick myself to death, I'd best use a good overdrive.
