You're lying, and ... ( 3 weeks ago by sonic8005)
You're lying, and saying "no offense" does not hide the fact that you're trying to offend. Offending was precisely the point of "hey windbag".
My definition of atheism is the ONLY one and you say "well my atheist friends would slap you silly" as if to assert I don't know what atheism is. Atheism is a lack of a belief in a god, not "a belief that there is no god" as you said. That's been flying over your head, and you pretend it's my fau

Atheism is a lack of belief in a higher supernatural power. Basically, atheists aren't stupid
I know that atheism ... ( 2 weeks ago by sonic8005)
I know that atheism is a lack of a belief in a deity, I spent a while explaining that.
The problem is, the person I was talking to defined it as a belief that God (a VERY speciffic god) does not exist.
You don't need much ... ( 1 week ago by Ansonidak)
You don't need much education in biology to see that creationist arguments are bullshit. One year of high school biology, two eyes and a mind that works is all you need. I am a layman with no college education and one year of high school biology(37 years ago!!). The first time I watched a creationist video (Kent Hovind) my thought was "This can't be serious. People actually buy into this?" I honestly thought (briefly) that it was satirical. Great work you are doing Don. Thank you.

EnemyoftheDevil said, "Unless you apply the much more rare use of Atheism as being a "person who believes God exists but doesn't want to follow God""
You trying to define atheism as someone that believes god exists is the dumbest thing I heard a creationist say in over a month. Congrats.

Oh I found it.. You didn't use the whole thing. And I know people who are exactly by the definition I used too. Related to one. So I'm not lying, and you are extremely ignorant.
You were lying when ... ( 5 days ago by kubush)
You were lying when you said, "I didnt say that." Cuz obviously, you did. Someone saying they are angry with god and then labeling themselves as atheists is what we call "extremely ignorant." I can say that I am a black gangsta but does that really make me one? No.
You cant change the definition of atheism ad hoc.
It's been a while ... ( 5 days ago by EnemyoftheDevil)
It's been a while and I did forget. But you still didn't use the whole quote anyway, to exactly jog my memory either. A person I am talking about has a lot of knowledge about God and but denies following God. I did say "Unless you apply the much more rare use of Atheism.." That means most people probably don't use it, I didn't define the rare one, it's a loose way of using it, and used probably mostly by Christians when talking about one who doesn't follow God. We believe knowledge doesn....
..doesn't save a ... ( 5 days ago by EnemyoftheDevil)
..doesn't save a spirit, but the acceptance of God does. So in our view, denying God because of anger and refusal to do so, with knowledge knowing he exists, is about the same level as lack of belief in God. Because in both, the person/like-minded people, are still not following God which is going to not be too different in effect of the decision.
I didnt use the ... ( 5 days ago by kubush)
I didnt use the whole quote because there is a 500 character limit and it would be silly to use it all just to repeat what u said.
It would most definitly be a loose way of using that word but it is not even close to being considered a definition of atheism, whether its considered rare or not.
Why would you say ... ( 5 days ago by kubush)
Why would you say that a person that believes god but rejects him is "like-minded" to atheist/agnostics? One type of person accepts hell and the other rejects the idea of its existence. How is that the same? In anycase, that is a bad stereotype along with wrong usage of the word "atheist."
They each deny the ... ( 5 days ago by EnemyoftheDevil)
They each deny the savior, though one is the denial of existence, and the other, refusal to follow. One knowingly though is judged harsher, that's said by Jesus in the Bible. Consider it like how "theory" in science is different in science definition in comparison to an average persons use --"just an idea."
Ah, makes sense. ... ( 5 days ago by EnemyoftheDevil)
Ah, makes sense. Yeah I know, it's not supposed to be very loose. But the basis it's used on is their not wanting to follow God for different reasons. It doesn't matter how it is spun, they don't want to follow. One believing God isn't there, and the other out of bitterness.
« It doesn't matter ... ( 5 days ago by XGralgrathor)
« It doesn't matter how it is spun, they don't want to follow. » That's silly. That's the same as comparing those who do not follow traffic laws in a country with and without traffic. In one, they're dissenters; in the other, there's no *reason* to even have traffic laws, let alone follow them. O
nce you introduce traffic and traffic laws in the latter country, a whole different picture might develop.
No that example ... ( 4 days ago by EnemyoftheDevil)
No that example doesn't have to do with the end result. Remember we are talking about a theist perspective. We're not talking about how you get there but that you get there, atheism, or refusal to follow, they both refuse for some reason. Different, but it's not the path, but the finish, in this case of the definition.
Maybe it is silly, ... ( 4 days ago by EnemyoftheDevil)
Maybe it is silly, but it's probably just to save time.
« We're not talking ... ( 4 days ago by XGralgrathor)
« We're not talking about how you get there but that you get there, atheism, or refusal to follow » It's still silly. In the one country, there's nothing to follow. You don't go to the supermarket for product A if you know product A isn't being sold at the supermarket. Saying "Hey, why aren't you
off to the supermarket to get product A?" in that case is silly.
Exactly, each are ... ( 4 days ago by EnemyoftheDevil)
Exactly, each are deceived in some way. Understand, I blame it on the fact that not as many Christians are out there educated enough to defend even some slightly basic questions. They'd be Bill Maher victims in an instant. But yeah, if using the general public term, it's really silly. But to a Christian that's talking about missing the mark, it's not. And it's opposite of silly to them.

« Oh. His. GOD. » Classic example of fundies shooting themselves mercilessly in the foot. Great laugh. I always show this particular bit to my students to teach them the value of critical thinking.
