problems i see with russian military:
Lack of updated and modern equipment.
Navy is weak compared to other navies.
Use of obsolete and outdated tactics.
Army is largely made up of unwilling and poorly trained conscripts.
Poor military leadership.
High level of corruption in all military branches.

That is total crap. If you look at how old the countries are that is impossible because Russia has been in more wars then most countries. America has never been in a medieval war, were thousands of soldiers died in one battle. Iraq only a couple thousand have died so far, compared to the thousands the Russians have killed in a single battle, Russia has started a lot of wars with Poland and those alone have probably killed more then the US ever has. also after being invaded they invade right back

How to they lack modern equipment? They have one of the strongest army in the world. They may have old standar issue infantery rifles but they have great intercontinetal ballistic missiles. And how is the navy weak? They have a huge navy and a large number of nuclear subs. Your right when it comes to unwilling soldiers and corruption. The russian army has been has had badly leadership for ages too. But its not an bad army

they still use jets like the MIG-29 and helicopters like Mil-8 and Mi-24 that were built in the 1980s and tanks lke the T-72 and the BMP-1. all of those have been studied by the west and all of their wweaknesses are known.
an example of old tactics used is the indiscriminate carpet bombing of Grozny in the first chechen war. they accomplished little by using the total war strategy in chechnya and if anything made the chechens' resolve even stronger.
