well to be honest, pele is over-rated anyways, there were much better players, even in his generation. only reason he became such a superstar was because he liked the camera. in those days of radio-broadcasts and black & white picture which was delayed a week, (prior to satellite signals..) that made a big difference. pele might have been good for the sport, i don't know, but it's stupid how people think of him like some kind of god and ignore/forget basically everyone else of past eras.

By the way, this Pele reference simply comes from the fact that both players did not play for the first 2 games of their debut international tournament (58' world cup for Pele) and had a massive impact on the team when they did finally play. Both players left the pitch crying as well. etc.. You don't see anyone comparing him to Maradona, or even better Baggio, even if they're far more alike. The reference is more like a joke..

pele reference is purely from the fact that both missed their first 2 games at a major international tournament and still ended up having a tremendous impact on world football. plus russia today always has provocative and idiotic titles
