I went to see this on Broadway in 1988 with this very cast. I was 16, my first trip to New York, and with a front row seat. It was beyond overwhelming. How fantastic to see this here!!!!

I was a bit older, and it was my second show ever in NYC.......all these years and all these experiences later - and all these lessons, they just feel more real and more important and timeless and true. I saw it in London and the USA touring company, and every audience was astounded at the truth. The moral of the story, eh, momthra???

Now that I think about it... I've lived the last 20 years with the morals of this show and am doing pretty well. Raising my little girl the same way. Not bad for a musical!

I missed Bernadette in this version. However, I'm glad the rest were there, especially Joanna-- she IS the Baker's Wife. Such a great actress in such a great role!

Well Bernadette only did the show for 5 months and then was replaced by Phylicia Rashad on Broadway. I guess she had prior commitments and couldn't stay with the show for that long. As far as nominations go, Joanna Gleason won that year for best actress.. which is great since that was the year of Phantom of the Opera. Anywho, I still love Bernadette - she MADE the witch.
