On January 30, 1972, British troops opened fire on unarmed and peaceful civilians in Derry, Ireland during a civil rights march. This music video is a tribute to the 14 killed and others wounded - combining video/music of U2, video from "Bloody Sunday" (2002 movie), and photographs from that terrible day.

yeah, the song implies the 1972 event, but when they performed this in ireland, 2001, the names bono lists are not the bloody sunday victims; the names are of the victims of a bombing in Omagh, in the late 90's. just a little info people may find interesting. still is my fav performance of SBS.

britain and ireland have been fighting(in one way or another) long before capitalism was even a thought in anyone's mind. any forms of goverment they fight over are just an extension of a pre-existing conflict. even the british and (mostly) irish immigrants fought each other over here in america a few hundred years ago out of pure hatred for each other. i don't doubt capatalism has something to do with it recently though. U2 is still a great band in any case.
